Hi Debra,

The piano you're speaking about is made in Belgium.
It must be pretty old because the inscription is in French, the language
that was often spoken by the rich Flemisch people.
The piano dealer (who assembled it) was Julien Clement. The adress : Rue de
Gand 20 (road to Ghent)
at Iseghem (now written : Izegem).
During that period, many piano dealers sold pianos with their own name on
it, as if they were made at their place. Most of the time, they ordered
pianos and actions at other manufacturers.
I personally know of someone who bouth an old upright with an unknown name
for 130 $, until we opened it and saw that it was a PLEYEL, a high regarded
brand from Paris.
Who knows, you have also a piano from a highly respected manufacturer...
I'll see if I can find any traces of Julien Clement, here in Belgium

Kind Regards,
Ludo

>I purchased an old upright which I have been having repaired. It has a
>brass nameplate with the name "Julien Clement-Clement Iseghem 20 Rue de

>piano and has two foot pedals. We have it to the point where I can play
>it but still have one problem. It is missing the leg spindles which

>can find replacement legs or try to duplicate the style.
>Thank you for any information.
