Hi Z!,

Try some ThumbTak.  Art supply stores carry it.  It is sticky but
removable and leaves nothing behind.

Tape it to a magnet and see if it works when stuck to the plate like
Sanderson's arrangement.  If it works well then you can CA it to a
magnet suitable for the job.
