Tightening coils on sloppy restringing

Hi Gareld,

Schaff sells a Japanese made coil lifter that will get into almost any
place. It is expensive by comparison but it WORKS. About $18 last
time I bought one.

Some technicians use a screw driver to reach in and lift the coils. I
never use that technique because it always slips off the scratches the
plate.

That much back angle is about twice what it should be and you will
likely have coils riding down until you can get the bottom one about
1/8" above the plate.

I hate becketts that stick out past the pins. Too easy to get
punctured and too hard to remove the coil if need be.
