I find that the coils that are the neatest ride up almost OVER half the hole in the tuning pin and ONLY half (or a little less) That if the wire extends through the hole in the pin as to stop the coil from ridding up, the coil cannot be gotten as neat as if it can nudge a little past the hole. Look at any piano with original strings. Tell me which ones do not cover half of the hole and I will show you ten that do.
