The numbers for export and domestic versions of Kawai 'evidently' just
happen to cross in 1990 (I'll take your word for it as I don't have a
Pierce10th edition and the 9th edition only goes to 1989).
Domestic numbers for Kawai go from 1900000 in 1989, to 1976000 in 1990 and
2000000 in 91.

Dons recommendation of a full Dampp chaser system is a good one in any
event as I am sure that the humidity in the nursing home is kept much lower
than the piano is used to :-)

As to the serial number thingee.....who knows what happened? The dealer was
probably so happy he got a decent piano that he didn't bother checking the
serial number? In any event dealers don't have much control over what exact
piano they are shipped and as long as the one you got was what was promised,
I wouldn't worry about it too much........I'll bet you are right though, that
 "it doesn't happen again" :-)
