  I don't think that the black marker trick will work in this case as you 
will be runnnnnnnning the old grommets off and the new grommets on  and the 
marker will probably rub off :-(
 As for saving skin, you can chuck the regulator in a electric  (battery 
operated) drill/screwdriver run the old thingees off, hand start the new 
thingees on and finish the job with the driver!  Walla!! no blisters or tired 
fingers!!  I use a Milwaukee, Flex Handle, 2.4 volt screwdriver for this and 
a hundred jillion other things :-)
