Make it thick enough that the trap lever is stopped before the damper lift tray can jam the underlevers against the upstop rail. The scrap hammer felt provides a good sturdy stop block, which is quiet as well. I find white glue good enough to glue it. If I want to gild the lily and have it set up fast, I smear the white glue on the felt, and then add a drop or two of CA glue just before pressing it to the underside of the piano. Susan
