Mark, Where are they breaking? In St. Louis I service a lot of Gospel type churches where they use the damper pedal improperly causing the strings to break at the agraffe or upper bridge (depending on whether a vertical or grand). Baldwin did a study holding the damper pedal down and repeatedly hitting the same string/note and broke the strings in 10 minutes!
