Hi Joe,

HTTP is Hyper Text Transfer Protocol and WWW is World Wide Web.

HTTP is for text only and most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are
not smart enough to fill in the rest of the address.  You can get to
an address just using www.blah@blah.etc but not with http.

http works well for addresses that do text only, like many university
sites, but any graphics intensive site requires www.

You need to tweak your (almost) guru about not providing you with
adequate information.
