Finding the serial#

Hi Phil,
I just worked on a G Steck yesterday! Most likely the number that you found
was a case part number used to reassemble the piano after the finish had
been applied.
I found the serial number for this one on the right hand side of the beam
that reaches from the bass string pinblock area to the highest bass note
bridge.

If the piano has been restrung most likely they painted over the s#.

Describe the shape of the legs, that may give a clue to its age.
