Wound Wire breakage in churchs

Before you do anything drastic like adjusting let off, have a talk with the 
minister, and explain why the strings are breaking. Tell him there are 
something that can be done, but the easiest, and cheapest, is to get the 
piano player to quite using the damper pedal to keep time.
