Merle Mason and I debated this issue, wippen vs whippen (no 'h'), a log time and surveyed many members of PTG, piano manufacturers and scanned a lot of the literature to arrive at a consensus. We decided on "wippen" to remove the "whip" connotation. It was also my choice so you can blame me. Newton
