A= 440 Fork - advice please

Hi Terry, list,
   I finally broke down and bought the Sanderson Accu-fork. It took a little
getting used to but now I love it. What Jim Coleman said about slowing the
beat rates down to 3 or 4 by temporarily raising the F2 is agood idea if the
piano is flat. If it is sharp than there would not be enough beating and you
would lower the F2 since the 17th is an expanded interval.
   Caution; the Accu-fork or tuning fork for that matter are not as accurate
as the Accu-tuner. It is my feeling that nothing we do aurally is as
accurate as these electronic devices and nor does it need to be for
providing the service we do to the musical world.
   I applaud you for wanting to get better at tuning aurally. There are some
types of people who do get addicted to tuning with ETD's and they forget how
to tune aurally. Please don't ask me how I know. In fact, I don't think you
really could get expertly proficient at tuning unless you do learn to tune
aurally first, especially unisons.
   Sorry to rant, these are just my own humble opinions.
