Dave I purchased Spurlock's jig and used it to hang a set of hammers in an 1869 Steinway vertical. The butts were drilled out and the hammer/shank assemblies were glued in place with the action in the piano. It made it very easy to get a straight hammer line as well as maintain good hammer spacing.
