Dan;
 CA is an effacious method of 'on-the-spot' repair but it will not work 
without clamping the bridge...in your post you didn't mention clamping and if 
you didn't, than is why the "problem came back"; If you did clamp ?????  CA 
is not a good gap filler even the medium and gel forms which say they are gap 
filling don't work well enough for bridge work without clamping.
