Piano bench height

Hi Clyde,
    When I have posed this question to the piano teachers I am acquainted
with they always reply that, with the exception of individual preference,
the elbows should be high enough in relation to the wrists ......that the
grade running along the forearm toward the wrist be downward.
    I haven`t put a lot of thought into this.....but you can imagine all of
the variables that could be involved with this, e.g.- length of torso,
length of upper arm ...
