Jeannie,

Thanks for the info. I'll re-consider upgrading to the 8 megs...

Do you sync both handheld and desktop equally? I mean not favoring one over
the other...

I will check out Pendragon but I really am enjoying the Time & Chaos PIM and
I will actually be moving on from Piano Service Manager which I have used
since 1992. Goodbye DOS. That being said I'll still keep it around for old
info.

David I.

David,
You'll be amazed at how much these little things can hold. My Palm III has
only 2 MB and I have over 3 years worth of data in it and there is still
plenty of room. The technology has changed so quickly that I have upgraded
my hand-held once already since my first one over three years ago.

Pendragon Forms is a third party program that allows you to use your current
Access database, or make up a new one. You can fill in the data on your
Palm unit and then Hot Sync it to your Access program on your desktop via
Pendragon Forms. You can check it out at www.pendragon-software.com. See
what you think.

Hi Jeannie,

I have only 2 megs of ram and I'm concerned I'll have a problem with this
down the road. I am thinking of returning it getting the one 8 megs.
I'm always interested in databases, so fill me in on Pendragon. I Like the
name. I do have Access in Office 2000 and I have tried PianoDB which uses
Access but it isn't intuitive.

Hi David,
Thanks for being so patient with my response about database use with your
new Palm device. I use Pendragon Forms and Access. However, while I was
creating the database of my dreams (still not there yet) I just used the
Palm desktop program. It works really well and simply with a search engine
that allows you to look up names or piano makes or streets or any word that
is in your Palm. In the appointment section I fill in the name, phone and
address of the client. Then for notes or a running log of previous work I
go to details and notes and either enter new info or add to what I have
filled in from the last time.

I can schedule automatic reminders or repeated dates, if you do reminders or
if you just want to remind yourself. I found it has worked much better than
I had expected. I carry more than three years' worth of data with me. Your
desktop PC is an automatic backup and vice versa. I'd be glad to share more
if you like. And explain about Pendragon Forms if you use Access.

Time and Chaos is a program Jim Harvey has used and gives it high marks. I
tried it, but visually I didn't like it.

Good luck.
jeannie

I have been using Pegasus Mail which is a free download from their
site...use your browser. I like but am now using...groan...Outlook 2000 for
my e-mail. By the way I am using Time & Chaos for the time being, even
bought and the hotsync add-on for my Palm. I like it! Much less
complicated than Outlook.

Yea, I know what it is, and I've posted about it before. The posts of
Patricia Neely, Low Sye Yuan, and John Ross were all unreadable and all
have the magic words in the header - Microsoft Outlook Express. Note
please, that no other mail management programs seem to do this, but it is
EXTREMELY common with Outlook. Following the tenuous chain of observed
evidence would seem to indicate that the above participants should consider
downloading Eudora Light from Qualcomm, or something else that works since
Outlook apparently does not.

We aim to serve... and volley.
