Ron I looked up 'it' and it is so too an English word....it is a pronoun and 
refers to a noun previously used. It may be used as the subject to an 
impersonal verb. It may be used as anticipatory subject or object. It may be 
used as a noun when describing the person who is 'it' in a game of tag or 
such...............So, Mrs. Whackthicket, notwithstanding there is alot of 
ado over not much :-)

BTW 'alot' means a superfluerous abundance, or overlybountiful sufficiency.
