Hi Rob,
I hate cheep tools as well, they are for the birds.   :-)
I don't like cheap ones either. Unfortunately the ones I originally
bought, were cheap, as I thought that was all I could afford. And I
can't get them to wear out, so I can buy new ones.
The big secret to bridge chisels, is to modify them, and keep them
really sharp. Some of the classes at the conventions, show how people
 have modified theirs.
