This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment For what it's worth, many of the better drum companies actually size a = drum shell to a certain note. "Drum Workshop" or "DW" for short stamps = the note of each drum on the inside of the shell.=20 many of the top studio drummers tune their toms to 1, Maj 3, 4, 5 etc... = intervals relating to the key of the song so when they play a fill the = notes don't clash with the other instruments. The drums get retuned to = accent the chords of the each new song.=20 For those of you who don't know this, a drum lug has a square head on it = much like a piano tuning pin. Older drums only had 6 or 8 lugs per side. = Newer fads have added 10 or 12 lugs per side. This means that to tune = one drum you have a total of 20 or 24 lugs to adjust. You're trying to = match the tension between all of them to the exact same spot. Many = drummers & drum techs don't know how to achieve this end result so what = you get is a thud sound with no resonance.......... ra byn james =20 ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
