I guess you could look at it that way. But if the tax went away, no company
would just hand it over (the 7% they pay) to the employees. They would keep it!

I have been doing some contract technical writing over the last 5 years. I'm
paid an hourly rate and receive no benefits. I have to pay 14.13% for self-
employment (SE) tax. I should have asked for a better rate, but failed to
factor on the increase SE tax. My mistake!!

Although we all (including me) complain about taxes and govt, here are the
facts:

1. This is perhaps the best economic time EVER in this country.

2. This is a great country we live in. . My tour of Southeast Asia US Air
Force) in '72 convinced me of that.
