Brian - Does this piano have a third (tenor) bridge? >also found raised lettering on the plate: 28/5.87 and right underneath >that: 1197 The first are the casting date (May 28th, 1887), and I believe that the 1197 represents the number of plates cast up to that date in that year, although I could easily be mistaken. Speaking of these numbers, starting around 1910 they replaced the year part with a letter code. Although the letters ran consecutively, they did not correspond directly to the year. Does anyone know what they do signify? I haven't checked, but I was wondering if they started a new letter series say every 5000 plates or something. Anyone know for sure?
