The piano was played out of tune and EJ was pissed off. However, Yamaha was jumping for joy, all that free advertising but the midi system was a QRS not a Yamaha one. As for a touring tech he has 3 touring pianos one in the UK, US and Australia The one in the UK which he uses for Europe as well, he uses local tuners. The one in the US he uses a touring tech unless he is in a Recording studio he will then use their tuner and some times their piano, if he like the way the tuner tunes he will use him/her next time he is out there. The piano in Australia is also used for the Far East which again he uses local tuners in most cases. However, this has not always been the case only in the last 10 years or so.
