The reason Gore had as high of votes as he did is due to the fact that people are selfish. Retired people were told lies that if Bush was elected their social security would go away. Minorities voted for Gore because they thought the Democrats would give them more $$. The teachers voted for Gore because Gore is beholden to them and wants to continue to pump more money to teachers, is against vouchers (read competition), etc. If Bush is elected we'll get to see that he is a man of his word and the scare tactics used by Gore were unfounded.
