Rook, If the hammers are 'hard' and the tone bright from heavy use, would the pianist tolarate some modest voicing to reduce the high partials? A little voicing would be a part of the service routine for a heavy use instrument like this. This might be a good excuse to meet with the musician to discuss their voicing preference, and like Ron suggested, put the choice of more service on their shoulders. As part of a normal service routine, bringing down the worst offenders in the most heavely used octaves will lessen the effects of unison drifting. (This is especially true if the piano is miked.)
