A friend of mine had some success with this method. He used nylon blocks to make custom replacement brackets. It is very strong, will outlive the piano, and won't appreciably change with the seasons. He cut them into slabs as thick as the original brackets and used the old brackets for a guide to make new ones with a band saw. As has been said previously, if your old brackets are very distorted, you may have to do a little calculating to get the optimum geometry. Good Luck Matt W.
