Dear Mr. Luehrmann, The hygrometer has an electronic sensor that is calibrated by the manufacturer and cannot be recalibrated. The challenge with the electronic sensor is that it tends to drift over a period of 2 to 3 years. The advantage to this sensor is that it is relatively accurate, quite precise and has a low cost. The hygrometers that we use for our research testing at the factory are in the $1000 to $1500 range. Even these drift. However, they can be returned to the manufacturer for recalibration which we do on an annual basis.
