Hi, Derek. Way back, when I started in this business, my teacher taught me: There are only two ways to do a job - The cheap way or the right way. It stuck with me & I always do my best to adhere to that philosophy. I understand the fact that he didn't have a Teflon repair kit & that the action will be rebuilt soon (what kind of soon- 6mo./ 36 mos.?), but ESPECIALLY on a Steinway D it sounds discomforting to me. This method may work well for a little while but it sounds very unpredictable. Would you be willing to risk it? I wouldn't. I would get a hold of a kit ASAP & do the job right. My 2 cents. -Dan RPT
