This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Hi, I restrung recently a °1909 grand Pleyel 2.20m, although this instrument sounded already nice with the original strings, the pure sound gave it a supplementary clearnes and singing sound but with less volume, (I calculated an average of 63 to 74Kg per string) the transfer between bas en middle is very smooth, the only problem was that about ten strings in the two upper oktaves broke at their eye in the first tree weeks after restringing (although breaking and stretchpointcalculation were o.k.) it seems that this strings are more fragile...? I restrung with pure sound in this same period an upright 130cm A.Grand Berlin +/- °1920, the action wil be finished soon, I let you know how this piano sounds. Mas Cabres told me I have to wait for one year before getting the final and optimum sound, my friend Odd Aanstad from Norway did some restringings with puresound and could confirm this. Hellerbass Germany started to make basstrings with puresound in september last year. I also read the suppliers article in the ptj but didn't find it complete. Has any one out there who has extensive restringing, rebuilding exp. used this product and comment on any type of increase in sound clarity, sustain or whatever. It is amazing that on some old but well preserved pianos that the old strings at least to my ear sound as good and sometimes better than the new ones. Am I hearing things or what? Be nice.
