The new book does balance better Mr. Fine's previous distastes for Kawai pianos and certain Euro pianos. His 5 star rating system is of brands is rather deceptive though. His favorites seem to all be one half of one star better (Yamaha vs Kawai, Steinway vs Mason Hamlin, etc...), but kudos to his excellent review about Euro pianos (Schimmels and Petrofs especially). Informed customers do read this buyer's guide and do act upon Mr. Fine's advice. I can see how useful this guide would be for the tech in the trenchs who is unfairly expected to give free buying advice to clueless piano buyers. Just tell'm to go read the book. With a qualified Piano Technician and Fine's buying guide, a prospective piano purchaser should make a pretty darn good selection of piano. Of course the book's worthless without a good technician... :) -Eric Frankson
