Hi,

this phainonemon has a name in german, called *reiter* which means rider.
Probably because one string rides on the other. Mostly it causes
tuning-problems, but not allways too heavy. A few weeks ago i tuned a piano
with riders, and it was the first time i stopped tuning because it was
really untunable. The strange thing was: it looked like the most pianos with
riders i know. I thought (like allways): hhmmm, perhaps a liitle bit more
difficult to tune, but tunable. I didnīt find the reason why that specific
instrument wasnīt tunable.
