I had one of those talking books. Just as with tape, the slower the speed, the lower the fidelity, but with the spoken word it didn't matter much. Although probably not intended by the industry, I used the 16 speed extensively for transcribing arrangements from records. Reduced the speed by half making it easier to hear what was being done. The only bad thing was that the music was also an octave lower. The new transcribing software available today makes the whole process much easier! Dave Bunch
