Open face vs. closed face pin blocks

Did I say Magic Circle ?? ... actually I think they call it the Circle of Sound, and the way I
have had it described it seems to have Magical qualities... but then who knows ?. Its one of
their reasons that tuning pin bushings are supposed to be a big no no. The bushings are supposed
to interfere with this Circle of Sound. According to the idea, correct me if I am wrong folks,
the energy of the vibrating string runs through sort of a  (in a Steinway only mind you) closed
circuit. From the string to the bridge, through the soundboard, into the plate and then the
pinblock, then into the relavant tuning pin and right back down the string.

Sounds kind of fantastic dont it ?. Course I doubt there is any documentation or proof one way
or the other, but this thread seemed to touch on the idea, so I thought I'd bring it up.... just
for fun....
