damper wire problem

Hi Tom,
Being lucky enough, not to have been faced with this problem, I can only
guess at a solution.
Unscrew the damper underlever, unpin the lifter flange. Then free the damper
wire
from the lifter flange by breaking the flange, and replace the lifter
flange, and repin.
The problem comes, when, like me you don't have a spare lifter flange.
Then cannibalize the top one till you go back again, in the future.
I am looking forward to seeing how others would tackle this problem.
