Hi Paul,

In DOS navigate to c:\progra~1\netscape\users

THere may be two user directories here.  One will be the original the other a
new one with a different name.  

Then type cd yourname.  There are four subdirectores here, one of them Mail
where all the messages are stored.  Use Dos to look to see how large the Inbox
file is and then open the file to see the date of the first message.  If the
date is very early the files are there but if not then the file likely has  been
moved to another directory.

If this is the case files can be transfered from one to the other but the file
to move must be renamed INCLUDING it's .smn file.  Copy tot he other directory

Here you are getting into some complex DOS moves including moving, copying and
other functions.  You might send a note to Netscape, they are very likely to be
willing to help.
