Hey Terry, Before using hardeners, check out the following, which will brighten up the tone. 1) Fileing and then most importantly, fitting the hammers to the wire (correcting 'open' strings) 2) Making sure the hammer is spaced under all three wires 3) Setting let-off 'as close as possible' A hot hammer iron will also put an edge on the tone... I use this method only for spot brightening. Good luck Dan
