Hey Tom,

If it is talcum powder, I can't see how it would have caused any problems,
but I wouldn't treat it as if it were talcum powder. It might be some kind
of insectacide.
May I suggest using Baldwins reccomended treatment to correct this
sluggish action problem? They sell their formula of silicone oil which is
then mixed with a gallon of VM&P naptha. (Varnish Makers and Painters?) It
works well. (Note: Using silicone around a case which might be refinished
someday, could cause the new finish to 'fish eye')
If in fact the sluggishness is being caused by tight hammer flanges,
regardless of what lube product you use, I have found using a 1875 watt
hair-dryer first, to lessen the amount of H20 in the bushing cloth, is
helpful. Also, a warm part might readily absorb the fluid, and facilitate
breaking down the corrosion on the pin, or in the cloth.
