Dale, Off the spine? What do you mean by the 'spine?' I measure off =
the stretcher (which is not always parallel to the bellyrail) from the =
left, or bass, side. That is, my 60=BA is 30=BA off perpendicular to the =
stretcher. It may or may not be 30=BA off the bellyrail. Del

Spine referes to the long side of the grand methinks. Never ran into =
another way of measuring soundboard angle in the literature I have run =
into, but then standard proceedures and terminology dont seem to have a =
chance in the piano world it would seem.=20

Yes. I finally got it. The spine is the straight side. The long side. =
The bass side. The side opposite the treble side--the anti-spine?

You are right, there is no 'standard' procedure for specifying this. =
Hence Dales request that I specify. I said I specify this relative to =
the stretcher. It would probably make more sense, however, to specify =
relative to the bellyrail, but since most of my work is in the computer =
it has simply been easier to click on the line and read the number which =
is always relative to a vertical, horizontal x,y axis.
