I have found that on some uprights the spoons have dug holes in the lifter felt. The symptom of sluggish keys didn't go away until I found that the spoons had a coating of something the same color as the lifter felt (usually green). Using a water based cleaner on a slender piece of cloth (shoeshine style), I was able to remove the residue from the spoons. Kind of a trick to get the cloth between the spoons and damper levers. Then spray the spoons with your favorite lube. Of course, replacement of the felt would be best. FWIW. Paul McCloud San Diego -- mailto:pmc333@earthlink.net
