Music programs [OT]

Ahoy!

I know there are so many active posters and lurkers that are into music, 
(duh), and I wanted to ask you about some music programs.

I´m a pre-beginner in music software, but I´m starting to feel my way 
around the market.
I was thinking whether any of you had experience with "Reason" or the like, 
and how that would compare to Qbase, etc.
