> besides completely re-bending the damper wires to set them straight? Dampers work or they do not work. No in-between. If you have to the the above to make them work then that is what you must do. If you can see that making a couple of quick bends will fix the problem then do that but do a careful analysis before bending willy-nilly. Required conditions. The damper must sit vertically upon the string, centered. If not centered then the dog leg bend at the top has to be increased or decreased so as to make it so. The wire must drop down and make two equal bends so the wire falls straight into the top flange without binding in the hole. The pressure the damper puts upon the wire must be equal front and back and in the base of bichords the same pressure front and back and left and right. They may or may not have been right in the factory but the show floor is much quieter and if they need fixing then do what needs to be done. Lots of luck. \ Newton
