Dear Sir, Bass strings often can be ordered from the manufacturer of the piano if it is still in business. If it is not there any longer then you can try to contact a place that makes bass stirrings to see if they have the information needed for your piano. You will need to tell them the make, model and serial number and the count of the strings, left to right. Not the notes, the strings are counted. >From there you can provide the string makers information about the missing string but you will need a micrometer and a good tape measure for that. The string maker will need to know the diameter of the core wire, the diameter of the wrap (over all diameter), where to start the wrap and where to end the wrap, generally to 1 or 1.5 mm. If you do not have the original strings then you can measure the ones on either side and the string maker can determine what to use for the missing string. If you wish to go further a new set of strings scan be designed for your piano but the string designer needs to know something about what is there, the same measurements as above plus a few others. I can do that, I use a program written for designing bass strings, which you can get if you wish, but some experience is needed to prevent mistakes and how to look at the information to determine if something is wrong with the data. SO, you have options. If you need further information just write to me through pianotech or to my address. Newton Hunt New Jersey USA mailto:nhunt@optonline.net
