What's "improves"?  Tight pinning darkens tone and looser pinning
brightens tone.  Neither can be considered "improves" just different. 
Three to four swings gives you no safety margin at all.  The next wet
or dry wind will change the pinning and if it gets too tight you loose
performance.

"improves" is too non specific to be meaningful.
