Hi Terry, They will both feel hot to the hand. I don't believe, yours or my hands, are calibrated to be able to feel the difference. I am not sure, but it could be that just different lengths of the resistive element, are used, inside the tubes. So maybe they are just working with 2 or 3 different resistive elements, and the length is what determines the wattage of the 7 or 8 different wattages they use. It is alright to parallel, 2 or 3 rods from the same humidistat. Regards, John M.
