I'm sure some will explain the purpose of the hollow plank just under the lid of this Kawai model. Is it just to fill a space to make the piano look taller? If so, why are there "ventilation holes".... a challenge for a Climate Control system?

Perhaps this is the modern "Pall Board"!  -)
