In other words, did the Protek affect the glue, or was the glue just not stuck to the wood in the first place? " I wish I could tell you, Ron, I only heard about it second hand. " If the wood is clean, was it wood contaminated by some field applied lubricant that didn't allow the glue to stick? Was the glue in question a craft type hot melt glue, or something a little more sophisticated? Is the contractor that installed the bushings a specialist in key work, or a local rebuilder?" My best guess would be that there may have been some contaminant in the wood which was re-activated by the CLP. I was also wondering whether the glue in question was some kind of hot glue gun kind of stuff. I certainly wouldn't use it for bushing keys. The contractor specializes in key work, they're aware of the problem, and I don't want to ruin their reputation on second hand testimonials. In court, that would be called "heresay" evidence. " Finally, what did you use to glue in the replacement replacements, and are they still sticking?" Ron N The keys were re-bushed with hot hide glue, and are recuperating nicely, thanks.
