Oxidation is encouraged or accelerated by the presence of electric =
charge or current. Also the presence of moisture and or ionized salts =
[sea air]. Install a heater bar and ground the harp to the electric =
system. The lead is growing because it is combining with oxygen and =
takes up more space. This only happens on exposed surfaces so don't =
drill a hole in it you will only expose more lead to the air.

  Subject: Growing Leads

  Hi List

Got a problem with growing leads in the keys of a Herburger keyboard =
fitted to a Schimmel grand piano.

Does anyone know how to arrest the growth problem ? Can drilling a =
small hole in the middle of the lead help ? What is the major cause of =
this oxidisation ?

  Thanks

  Tony Caught
