THE SOLUTION FOR TERRORISM

Brian,

I do not disagree with you. However, as I said, all other functions are
subordinate to the killing/bodily damage function. If this were not the
primary function, it would be ineffective as "insurance," which I think
is more accurately called security or defence. Unfortunately, our view
of what constitutes defense can change with our state of mind. That is
why I prefer to leave such matters to professionals charged with
performing this function, in which case the profession defines the terms
(of engagement) and controls the care and usage of the weapons in a
professional setting. To me, that is appropriate for anything which is
by design as dangerous as a gun, and which cannot properly perform its
function unless it is in fact dangerous.
