Unwrapped ends of bass strings

Hi Terry,

Good thoughts all.  I want to know exactly where the problem is before I
talk to the string maker.  If I can say, "You are doing this and doing
that", I will be in a better position than saying, without good data,
"Make them again, turkey."

Understanding is better than accusing.

The rebuilding takes the measurements,
He sends me the scale data,
I rescale the piano
I send him the scale data,
He picks the winder,
The rebuilder installs the strings.

It is a convoluted process, fraught with potential errors but in 30
years of doing this this is the only rebuilder this is happening to,
several times.  Where is the error?  I am not certain, hence this thread
trying to gain insight.
