very simple (VT100 report)

Hello,

Even if the manual propose to tune from A4 up , then from A4 down, I've
never used that way and the VT100 always computed a good tuning.
In fact I tune my usual temperament sequence, but before that I play
(sample) all A's, the 2 break notes, the last plain and first wounded, so
the VT have more information to begin with . This method too is in the VT
100 manual.
In fact at every new note you play (and tune), the VT learns information
about the spectra and uses it to compute the tuning.

On the fly you can add stretch at the extremes or when you feel the need,
buy going in the menu add stretch and add a value from -2 to +2.

The VT display at all times (in fine tune mode) all the partials sounding,
with their pitch and level, written at the left of the screen, while the
actual pitch of the note is displayed too near the spinner.
The spinner is driven by all the partials, those witch are stronger have a
stronger effect on it.
It can be customized in speed, so is the speed of the external display, and
the minimum rightness for it to appears. - possible to ask the spinner to be
driven by one partial only.

You can even tune by direct reading, as I understand your question, that
mean tuning intervals directly, based on partial coincidences. Then you can
have the spinner driven by any partial of your choice, then see what the
other are saying, and even change on the fly the partial driver.

The custom mode allows for pattern realization with more or less beats at
different levels in the standards intervals ratios (octaves, doubles and
triples), starting at any note and computed by weighting the strength of the
ratio vs. the others. i.e. you can ask for a 60% 8:1 octave at 0.6 bps while
having a 40 % 2:1 at + 0.65 bps since any note in the scale. I did not
compute enough with that yet but that allows for much possibilities.

The PR mode is not so evolved as in RCT, but you have a display with
original pitch, final pitch with 10,25 or 33% added, and wanted final pitch
which is the Zero point on this linear display.

The VT can hear inharmonicy while you are tuning the string (the pitch is
moving), so he reads the piano while you pitch raise.

Things can be better in tuning management, and the software for downloading
on a PC is on the way.
Beside, the quality of the results are more than excellent, and the use
while tuning is very natural to me (I mean the display is always something
my ears can agree with)

Historical temperaments are included, measurement of tunings too, the
spectrum analysis in real time is very impressive, it is fast and precise,
used it in voicing, like a toy, but true facts there.

I hope this tool will make his way and have the success it deserves.

Hope nobody is hurt, that was not my intention either.
